Editor-in-Chief for milliberty.com

The Editor-in-Chief for MLI’s website will work to increase guest blog posts from individuals with a unique perspective in the liberty movement. By cultivating a unique space for libertarian ideas to flourish, the EiC should work to make the site fun, engaging, and force those who read to think critically. The candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Have writing experience and provide samples of at least three published articles.
  • Possess an understanding of how to operate WordPress.
  • Experience with other forms of media (podcasting, radio, TV, etc.) is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of libertarian philosophy.
  • Possess leadership qualities and an ability to inspire.
  • Possess a certain amount of adaptability in a changing work environment.

Media Liaison

As The MilLiberty Initiative expands, we seek to raise general awareness of our projects and our mission. Due to this, we are seeking a highly motivated Media Liaison who will help get our mission out and spread the word on the many new projects we have in store. The qualified candidate will reach out to old and new forms of media, work to book staff on programs, pitch Op-Eds, and build a general working relationship with different types of media. The candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Have a general knowledge of the media landscape and know how to book talents.
  • Familiarity with both old (Radio, print, TV, etc.) and new (Podcast, internet TV, blog, etc.) styles of media and how to reach to each.
  • Working experience in media (internships, etc.) is preferred but not required.
  • Possess a certain amount of adaptability in a changing work environment.

Director of Policy

While The MilLiberty Initiative is mainly focused on advocacy programs and community outreach, we also deal with public policy. Which is why we are looking for a sharp, engaging, and talented Director of Policy. This position will work with the Executive Director on putting together legislation that we can support state by state. The qualified candidate will oversee research, put together research papers and proposals, and lobby when necessary to push through our supported legislation.The candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in legislative or policy work.
  • Have a general knowledge of the legislative landscape.
  • Include 3 specific issues you’d like to see MLI work on in state legislatures and why.
  • An understanding and passion for libertarian ideas and philosophy.
  • Possess a certain amount of adaptability in a changing work environment.

Director of Development

The Director of Development will have one of the most important jobs at The MilLiberty Initiative. As we grow, we need funds that will help thrust us into the next level. This position will oversee the organization’s fundraising efforts and work closely with the Executive Director on fundraising strategy. The qualified candidate will begin working as soon as possible and will be one of the first individuals paid at MLI, should this candidate assist in acquiring enough funds. The candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • A 1 year minimum of experience fundraising.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Put together a basic outline of a fundraising strategy, should you acquire the position.
  • Knowledge of the grant-making and research process.
  • An understanding and passion for libertarian ideas and philosophy.
  • Possess an out-of-box thinking mentality.
  • Possess a certain amount of adaptability in a changing work environment.

Managing Director

The Managing Director will work directly with the Executive Director to ensure all departments are working efficiently and growing steadily. This position will focus on the day to day aspects of the organization, help the Executive Director craft visions for MLI, and enforce policies and deadlines to all staffers. The qualified candidate will help each department achieve their goals, and help lead the organization to new heights. The candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • Excel in leadership qualities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A 2 year minimum of experience working in the liberty movement in some capacity.
  • Possess a deep understanding and passion for libertarian philosophy and culture.
  • Showcase an ability to brainstorm big picture ideas as well as specific details.
  • Fundraising experience is a plus, though not necessarily required.
  • Policy/legislative work experience is a plus, though not necessarily required.
  • Be able to think critically and out of the box and changing circumstances.
  • Possess a certain amount of adaptability in a changing work environment.
